This is the same species as the better known 'Champion' strains, but this is a true biennial. It should be planted in the fall for spring bloom. If you plant in the spring it will not flower until the following spring.
Said to be cold hardy to zone 4 or 5. I've had it live in zone 3 with heavy snow cover. A classic English cottage garden flower that is rarely seen today.
