HI admit, I don't really like yellow, and I have avoided Heliopsis because of that. Up until recently they've all been yellow or had some yellow in them. Well, that all changed when 'Bleeding Hearts' was introduced by Jelitto Seeds a couple year ago. Their rich orange red tones can be mistaken for single dahlias. They are tough as nails and get bigger each year. Even better they are American natives, first year flowering, and widely adaptable. Best in full sun, they are fully hardy, and grow to around 4' tall.
I've been trialing these for a couple of years now, and I like them so much I'm even trying some... gasp... yellow varieties now! Stay tuned for those.
