First things first. This is not the invasive gooseneck Loosestrife (Lysimachia clethroides), nor is it the invasive purple Loosestrife (Lythrum salicaria). Rather, it is a lovely, well mannered clump forming perennial that produces spikes of deep wine-colored flowers above attractive grey foliage. (Plant at least a few in your garden so you don't have to cut them all!). It can grow to 24" and prefers average to moist soils. Much sought after and seldom grown.
