Farmer Bailey customers are creating full-spectrum rainbow bouquets this June as we celebrate Pride around the world.
The rainbow flag was designed in 1978 when openly gay artist and drag queen Gilbert Baker was encouraged by Harvey Milk (the first openly gay elected official in California) to create an LGBTQ symbol.
Baker saw flags as the most powerful symbol of pride, and the rainbow as the naturally occurring flag of the sky.

"Our job as gay people was to come out, to be visible, to live in the truth, as I say, to get out of the lie," said Gilbert in an interview. "A flag really fit that mission, because that’s a way of proclaiming your visibility or saying, ‘This is who I am!’"
The flag of the farmer-florist is unquestionably a bouquet. It boldly proclaims itself; it refuses to fade into the background. Each bouquet is beautiful, unique, and sprung from nature herself. Thank you to our wonderful customers for sharing their rainbow bouquets, and for creating with and celebrating love all year round.
