Meet Thomas, Farmer Bailey's Director of Operations

Thomas McCurdy in Madeira

Hello there! I am Thomas, and I often describe my role as like a plate spinner, running around and multitasking to keep everything balanced and spinning as it should.

In reality I'm Farmer Bailey Inc's Director of Operations, and I oversee all of the day-to-day activities of the business to ensure that things run efficiently and effectively. Most of what I do takes place behind the scenes: data analysis, troubleshooting, HR, IT, company financials, and (most importantly) making Bailey's cocktail every other week for It's Five O'Clock Somewhere Instagram Live with Farmer Bailey. But I also get to interact directly with you, our customers! You'll regularly find me working alongside Ally and Felicia to answer your emails, update orders, and provide cultural information, ensuring that you have all of the information and tools that you need in order to succeed with our plugs.

My background in food services and agriculture prepared me for the world of business. Bailey and I started farming back in 2011, then I opened my bakery and catering business in 2014. Between our flower farm and livestock operations, farmers' markets, bakery, catering company, mail-order Christmas Cookie enterprise, on-farm summer events series, and a Covid-era food delivery service, you could say that we're "serial entrepreneurs".

I enjoy numbers, compliance, and problem-solving, and last year I compiled my Tips for Small Business Success for the Farmer Bailey Blog, which many of you have found helpful! If the article sparked any business related questions for you, please don't hesitate to send us an email at info@farmerbailey.com and I'll do my best to help!

If you have thoughts on ways that our website or ordering processes could improve, questions related to taxes and reporting, or input on our customer service, I'm your guy!

In recent years I've taken a couple of breaks from running businesses to spend some time on television sets. You may have seen me on Food Network's Chopped Sweets back in 2020 or season 1 of FOX's Crime Scene Kitchen in 2021. These experiences were tremendous fun, but it's safe to say that I'm retired from TV baking competitions. Well, we'll see.
