Plug Connection

Scented Geranium

$86.00
New for 2026!
Tray Size: 50
variety: Lady Plymouth

Finally scented Geraniums!

It is difficult to find clean cuttings of scented Geraniums which means we have trouble supplying you, but it looks like Plug Connection has a source!

Lady Plymouth is good for cutting and has lacy, slightly vareitaged leaves. Citronella is too strongly scented for cutting in my opinion, but is very popular as a garden plant for it's mosquito repellant qualities.

Grown in 50 cell full trays.

Order Minimums & Tray Sizes

The minimum Plug Connection order is four total trays (each tray can be a different variety)

A full shipping box contains FOUR 128 cell trays or a combination of 128 and 288 cell trays.

*If you are only ordering 288 cell trays, then FIVE trays will fill a box.

Common Name Scented Geranium
Genus  Pelargonium
Species Various Species
Family Geraniaceae
Life Cycle  Half-hardy Perennial / Shrubby Herbaceous Perennial (often treated as as annual or overwintered)
Format 50-cell Plug Trays
Plug Care Harden off and plant out or bump up plugs promptly upon arrival. Keep the growing medium evenly moist, not waterlogged, while in plug trays and continue to water frequently after planting until roots establish. Avoid overwatering in early stages as geraniums are prone to root rot if kept too wet. It's important to find the happy medium.
Netting / Staking Not required. The foliage and stems are self-supporting and do not need netting. These plants tend to ramble and will grow as a low bush, but the organic movement in the stems adds to the appeal when they're used in an arrangement.
Temperature Range Scented geraniums prefer warm growing conditions; they are very sensitive to frost. In cooler climates, maintain minimum temperature above freezing  and bring indoors or into a heated greenhouse in the winter. Can be grown as an annual.
Spacing Space plants 12 to 18 inches apart (or slightly more depending on cultivar) to allow for branching and airflow.
Soil Preference Prefers well-drained, moderately fertile soils. Soils should not stay soggy and should drain quite freely.
Day Length N/A. Plant in full sun.
Pinching Pinching back growing tips early in production encourages branching and fuller foliage mass. Pinch multiple times early in the season for best results. Stems will not be ready to harvest until later in the summer.
When to Plant Plant in the spring after the soil has warmed and all chances of a late frost has passed. Can be planted in a heated greenhouse at any time. Take cuttings or dig mother plants out in the fall, to overwinter in a frost free location.
Harvesting Harvest later in the season when the branches are long enough and when the stems have matured and become hard, borderline woody for best results - this helps with hydration and keeps the foliage from going limp. Cut stems right above a node on the mother plant so that a new growth point will emerge from the stump.  Cut early in the morning or later in the evening when the plants are at peak hydration. Strip any leaves from the bottoms of the stems that will sit below the water line.
Post Harvest Care Cut stems should immediately be placed into a vessel with cool, clean water. A floral preservative will help maximize vase life. You can keep them in the cooler to hydrate for a few hours, or better overnight before they are needed.
Diseases / Insects Scented geraniums are generally very pest resistant. Their biggest killer is wet feet and prolonged wet foliage which can encourage the development of foliar diseases.
Bailey's Notes Scented geraniums come in a number of shapes, sizes and colors, with varying degrees of scent. Some of the favorites are 'Attar of Roses' and 'Mint Chocolate', but there are dozens of varieties. We are still searching for a reliable source for the majority of these cultivars, but we are happy to offer 'Gray Lady Plymouth' through Plug Connection.
