For the first time, Lisianthus Chateau ‘Blue’ is blooming across America. ‘Blue’ ranges from antique taupe to dusty blue-lavender when well grown, and is currently the only color available in the Chateau series. Chateau is fully ruffled with large flowers, much like fellow Sumika varieties Celeb and Megalo.
Bailey first encountered Chateau on a 2018 visit to Japan, where he was first introduced to breeder Sumika. Following a successful trial at Ardelia Farm in northeastern Vermont in 2022, we added Chateau ‘Blue’ to our offerings for spring 2023 shipping. Seeing these blooms finally appear in the hands of our farmer and florist customers has been a true delight!
