Hi Maureen, never apologize for asking a question! The chart has a description of the specific color of each Peony variety, and the colors are the groupings of basic categories of color: white Peonies, pink Peonies, Yellow Peonies, Red / Fuschia Peonies. Thanks for checking them out! ~Felicia
